This jacket is made from a turkey red damask tablecloth, c.1850s-1870s. Turkey red, the name for the red dye used to color this fabric, was the first dye to be made colorfast, meaning it wouldn't run when washed. Because of this, it was widely popular throughout the 19th century for everything from clothing to embroidery floss to home decor.

The jacket has a band collar and swing silhouette. It is finished with three vintage frog closures. Hand-mending throughout.

  • Boxy fit
  • Dry clean only

All wear, mending, and idiosyncrasies are unique to the original textile.
